GOODLATTE NAMED ‘TAXPAYERS’ FRIEND’

Washington, D.C.: Congressman Bob Goodlatte was named a “Taxpayers’ Friend” by the National Taxpayers Union (NTU) this week for his support of responsible tax and spending policies. Congressman Goodlatte is the only member of the Virginia Delegation to receive an “A” grade, placing 28th out of the 430 Representatives that received a rating. Scores were calculated based on 337 roll call votes taken in the U.S. House of Representatives during the first session of the 112th Congress.

“Cutting wasteful government spending and protecting taxpayer dollars have been my top priorities in Congress,” said Congressman Goodlatte.  “It is an honor to receive this recognition as a ‘Taxpayers’ Friend.’ Fiscal discipline is critical in getting our nation’s economy moving again. We can also encourage investment, savings, and general entrepreneurship if we allow for tax reform that reflects the desire of Americans to be in charge of their own hard-earned money. I remain committed to lowering taxes and making the tough, but necessary, decisions to cut government spending and ultimately balance the budget, which will ensure a more prosperous future for America.”
