CONGRESSMAN GOODLATTE ANNOUNCES ACADEMY NOMINATIONS

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Bob Goodlatte announced today that he has nominated the following students to the nation’s military academies.  These students would enter in the fall of 2013 and be members of the graduating Class of 2017.

Alicia Cash, daughter of Andy and Donna Cash, is a current senior at Wilson Memorial High School and a resident of Crimora.  She has been nominated to the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis.

Amy Conner, daughter of Cory and Jessica Conner, is a current senior at Robert E. Lee High School and a resident of Fishersville.  She has been nominated to the United States Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs.

Shannon Conway, daughter of Wayne Conway and Evelyn Kelley, is a current senior at Hidden Valley High School and a resident of Roanoke.  She has been nominated to the United States Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs.

Josh Conyers, son of Doug and Betsy Conyers, is a current senior at Wilson Memorial High School and a resident of Fishersville.  He has been nominated to the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis.

Jordan DiPaola, son of Louis and Tracey DiPaola, is a current senior at A Beka Academy and a resident of Strasburg.  He has been nominated to the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis.

John Dorsey, son of Douglas and Susan Dorsey, is a current senior at Patrick Henry High School and a resident of Roanoke.  He has been nominated to the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis.

Jonathan Drablos, son of David and Gaynor Drablos, is a graduate of Liberty Christian Academy and a resident of Forest.  He has been nominated to the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis.

Jake Freiwald, son of Todd and Wendy Freiwald, is a current senior at Central High School and a resident of Woodstock.  He has been nominated to the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis.

Brandon Gil, son of Lawrence and Kimberly Gil, is a current senior at Lord Botetourt High School and a resident of Daleville.  He has been nominated to the United States Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs.

Will Harris, son of Robert and Karen Harris, is a current senior at William Fleming High School and a resident of Roanoke.  He has been nominated to the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis.

Ben Jackson, son of Darin and Amanda Jackson, is a graduate of Jefferson Forest High School and a resident of Forest.  He has been nominated to the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Will Johnston, son of Lewis and Deborah Johnston, is a current senior at E.C. Glass High School and a resident of Lynchburg.  He has been nominated to the United States Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs.

Hunter Morton, son of Michael and Kathryn Morton, is a current senior at Turner Ashby High School and a resident of Harrisonburg.  He has been nominated to the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis.

Matthew Robbins, son of Alan and Barbara Robbins, is a current senior at Broadway High School and a resident of Linville.  He has been nominated to the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis.

Obie Okeyo, son of Ruphina Okeyo, is a graduate of Fork Union Military Academy and a resident of Roanoke.  He has been nominated to the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis.

Blake Papet, son of Louis and Sharyn Papet, is a current senior at Liberty Christian Academy and a resident of Forest.  He has been nominated to the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Samantha Schutz, daughter of Pat and Laurel Schutz, is a current senior at Stonewall Jackson High School and a resident of Edinburg.  She has been nominated to the United States Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs.

Josh Stanton, son of Ray and Karen Stanton, is a current senior at Timberlake Christian Schools and a resident of Forest.  He has been nominated to the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Lukas Waldron, son of Ray and Wynne Waldron, is a current senior at Central High School and a resident of Fort Valley.  He has been nominated to the United States Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs.

Nik Weinmeister, son of Frank and Teresa Weinmeister, is a current senior at Jefferson Forest High School and a resident of Lynchburg.  He has been nominated to the United States Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs.

Anna Yoon, daughter of Young and Hye Jia Yoon, is a current senior at Heritage High School and a resident of Lynchburg.  She has been nominated to the United States Military Academy at West Point.

“It is my honor to nominate these young individuals to compete for an appointment to the United States Service Academies.  The Academies provide students the opportunity to receive a top-notch educational experience and join the world’s finest fighting force.  Upon appointment, I am confident they will serve our country with distinction.  Folks in the Sixth District can be proud of these hard working nominees.  I wish them the best and thank them for their willingness to serve this great nation,”
