GOODLATTE RELEASES STATEMENT ON GOVERNMENT MONITORING OF PHONE RECORDS
WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) today issued this statement regarding the news that the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) has been monitoring the phone records for millions of Americans.
“The House Judiciary Committee takes this kind of action very seriously and so we will be looking into the details of this case very closely. I am very concerned that the Department of Justice may have abused the intent of the law and we will investigate that and whether the law needs to be changed as a result. Furthermore, we will raise this issue with FBI Director Mueller when he appears next week before the House Judiciary Committee for an oversight hearing.”
